Peter Lauer is one of the Saar's most revered producers, farming steep slate vineyards with meticulous care and bottling wines of extraordinary precision and longevity. The Barrel X is an entry point into the Lauer range — but don't be fooled by its accessibility. This is serious Riesling, crafted with the same philosophy that defines the estate's single-vineyard bottlings.
The 2024 vintage on the Saar delivered cool, slow-ripening conditions ideal for Riesling — producing wines of electric acidity, crystalline clarity, and vibrant fruit. Barrel X shows a pale straw color with green highlights, and a nose of white peach, lime zest, green apple, and crushed slate. On the palate, it's taut and focused, with mouthwatering acidity, a touch of residual sweetness in perfect balance, and a long, mineral-driven finish.
